Every year SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts an exam known as SSC CGL (Staff Selection Commission – Combined Graduate Level) Examination through which it recruits candidates for non-technical Grade “B” and Grade “C” non-gazetted posts in various central government ministries, departments and offices. It is a very attractive job for graduates because of great pay scale, job security and respect that one gets being a government servant. In total, there are 4 stages that needs to be cleared by a candidate. Tier 1 and Tier 2 are carried out in online mode whereas Tier 3 is descriptive in nature. Tier 4 consists of document verification along with skills test which is discussed in brief in the latter part of this article.

Registration for Appearing in SSC CGL 2020-21 has been started from December 29, 2020. All the application process would be held through the official site of Staff Selection Commission – https://www.ssc.gov.in

  • Tier 1 Exam tentatively from 29th May 2021 to 7th June 2021
  • Result of Tier 2 expected on 20th February 2021.

SSC CGL 2020-21 Recruitment Process

The recruitment process of SSC CGL is quite lengthy which takes a minimum of a year to get completed. After filling of forms, candidates are assigned the shift and exam date on which they have to appear for the exam. There are 4 stages/tiers in which whole exam is carried out. Each tier is an elimination round in which candidates are filtered so the competition is quite high in this exam.

  • Tier 3 – Descriptive Mode
  • Tier 4 – Skill/ DEST test and Document Verification.

Candidates who get selected/ shortlisted are purely on merit basis and who have cracked every tier with minimum qualifying marks.

SSC CGL 2020-21 Exam Dates

SSC has published its examination calendar with schedule of all the exams that are conducted by it. SSC CGL 2020-21 Tier 1 is to be held from 2th May to 7th June 2021 tentatively as per the official notification of SSC. SSC CGL 2020-21 Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL exam pattern which is decided by the conducting body i.e. SSC (Staff Selection Commission) is that it would be held in four tiers. Tier 1 is the scoring exam as if one scores good in this exam, some pressure is released to get exceptionally good marks in tier 2 for achieving a good rank. Tier 2 is more of a rank decider stage.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria

All the aspirants that want to appear for SSC CGL exam must know the below mentioned criteria which are decided by the commission itself. Out of all the criteria, three of them are a must for everyone sitting for the exam and one of them is for particular posts only which is related to physical fitness.

1 .  Nationality

Aspirants who want to appear for SSC CGL Exam must have Indian Citizenship. If an aspirant is from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan Refugee or from any other country as mentioned in the notification, then it has to have a certificate of eligibility issued by Government of India.

4 . Physical Fitness

Apart from the above criteria, there are certain requisite Physical Standards for Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/Preventive Officer), Sub-Inspector in CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and Sub-Inspector in NIA (National Investigation Agency).

The commission will roll out the admit cards of SSC CGL 2020-21 tier 1 probably in first week of May 2021. The admit cards for tier 2 would be out a couple of weeks before the exam. The admit cards would be uploaded on the respective website of Regional/sub regional offices of the commission.

Aspirants are requested to have a check on the website of the commission as it will publish an official notification for SSC CGL 2021 Admit Card with the DO’s and Don’ts while visiting their examination centers.

Steps to download the admit card:

  • Step 1: Visit the regional SSC office website
  • Step 2: Click on the link “SSC CGL Admit Card” or related to the same that would be appearing as latest notification on the website.
  • Step 3: Enter the details asked to download your admit card.
  • Step 4: Download the admit card
  • Step 5: Print the admit card to take it to the examination center on the day of your exam and retain it with yourself after the exam for any future purpose.

SSC CGL 2020-21 Result

Staff selection commission (SSC) will release the results in four stages (except the revised results in any case). The candidates that will clear the cut off would only be eligible for appearing in the next tier of the exam.
